Hebrew School Newsletter by Fran Green

Our school year is really in full swing now that the holidays are over. Our Shofar Factory was a huge success and the children really enjoyed making their own Shofar despite the bad odor! The Sukkah Happening was lots of fun as well. Each class made a banner which was prominently displayed during Simcha Torah. The children marched around the sanctuary proudly holding the banners. Thank you to all the parents who came out to the Shofar Factory and/or the Sukkah Happening. Your help is greatly appreciated and your children enjoy having you there whether it is to help them or simply observe their work! We would like to encourage all parents to become actively involved in all Hebrew School Celebrations!

Speaking of celebrations, our next one will soon be upon us! Our Chanukah Celebration will be on December 18th, so mark your calendars and let Bonnie (in the office) know if you can help out! Not only will we be doing a craft pertinent to Chanukah but we will be celebrating with Latkes and Applesauce! YUM!

On December 11th and December 18th we will be having a book fair. We need volunteers for both days to help out at the book fair. We hope that on these days you will park your car and come in with your child so you can peruse our selection of books!

While we’re on the topic of books, some of you may or may not know that we have a library towards the back of the Hebrew School. We are trying to get this library up and running. Most of it will be for the children. We ask that if you have any books of Judaic nature that you may want to contribute to please give them to Mr. Rubel. We also ask that at the book fair that you might purchase a book or two to donate to our library. We thank you in advance for your generosity!

JEP is also back in full swing. We have a new group leading JEP this year and the children in attendance really seem to love it. They’re learning and having fun. Last week they learned about Friendship, Mitzvot, Peace and lots more. Anyone from 2nd grade on up can attend JEP which meets on Wednesday nights immediately following Hebrew School. Pizza is $1.50 a slice and the fun and learning is free! We’d like to remind you to confirm with the office that JEP is scheduled for that night before leaving your child until 7:15pm!
