Holocaust remembrance

Dear Parents,

On Monday, April 24 at 5:00 PM, Mr. Joseph Grabczak, a Holocaust survivor will be speaking to our religious school students and parents about his experience during the Holocaust and in the movie "Paper Clips".

Due to the nature of the subject matter, please let the office know (either by returning the form sent home in the backpacks with the children, or by signing a letter) if you would like your child to attend this Yom Hashoah program.

Children who do not attend the program will remain in their classrooms with their teachers. These children will be involved in another age appropriate memorial.

A Call for Student Writing

Every year, BabagaNewz magazine publishes writing by students. Now is the time. Our students can submit book reviews about Golden Windows and Other Stories of Jerusalem, by Adele Geras, or any other Jewish themed book.

A Call for Student Book Reviews

BabagaNewz is looking for short book reviews written by students in grades 4 through 7 describing Jewish books that the student has really enjoyed. Book reviews should be 50-75 words long and answer the following questions:

* What was the book about?
* Why did you like it?
* Why would you recommend it?

Please do not send long book reports; we do not have the space to publish lengthy reports. The book review must review a Jewish book (fiction or non-fiction). Please do not limit your submissions to Holocaust-related books. If BabagaNewz decides to publish the book review, we will obtain student and parental consent before publishing the review. If we publish a submission, your school will be identified with the review and the student will receive a gift from BabagaNewz.

*Due date for submission is May 5, 2006. *

If you plan to submit book reviews, please let us know as soon as possible by e-mailing aviva@babaganewz.com .

Mail all submissions to:
